SWF: A World Apart
Faith and Mythology
(okay i’m starting this page because i have a deity. -s)
Ish’Lai is a modern deity among some human of the desert-dwelling and fringe city-dwelling human societies. Ish’Lai, historically, was a goddess of rain and flowing freshwater (such as rivers), but over time has become more broadly accepted as a general water deity, as well as a goddess of chance, luck, and changing fate, and to some extent is worshipped as having power over time and chaos (though there are other deities within the pantheon more directly related to these). In particular, Ish’Lai is connected to the monsoon season and the washes that form during and following, and is prayed to in an effort to guard against flooding and destructive storms.
(there is probably a story in here somewhere about a mythological grand battle between this deity and another who is actually a deity of destruction, etc, blah blah blah. i’ll come up with more detail later but here’s the thing about this deity in particular.)
